Sensory Processing

Our senses allow us to receive information from our external environment. Our nervous system, brain and body’s ability to receive messages from our senses and turn it into the appropriate motor response (movements) .

Can you name our 7 senses? Our senses include vision ( to see), auditory (to hear), gustatory (to taste), tactile (to touch), olfactory (to smell) as well as proprioceptive and vestibular senses. If our sensory system is over-or under-stimulated we recognize sensory processing disorder. We recognize it when children have difficulty performing basic gross motor tasks such as dressing themselves, playing with peers even eating.
